Application of grab type double beam overhead crane in steel mills

In 2018, we installed this double beam overhead crane for our client at a steel factory in Pakistan. The crane project lasted for 3 months from the start of production at the factory to the completion of installation in Pakistan.

Grab cranes can be used in steel mills to grab and separate scrap steel, as well as for bulk waste and waste separation, loading and unloading, and transportation in waste disposal sites and construction sites, as well as for car disassembly, separation, and recycling in car recycling yards.

If you need to customize a crane for working in a steel plant, you need to know that there are some special requirements for cranes working in the steel plant. Firstly, the crane needs to work in a high-temperature environment, and protective measures need to be taken for its electrical control equipment. Secondly, the crane needs to choose steel wire ropes suitable for high-temperature situations and have sufficient safety factors. In addition, cast iron pulleys are not allowed for cranes. Finally, if the working level of the original crane is lower than A6 (excluding A6), the load should be reduced accordingly, and the reduction amplitude should be determined based on the actual working situation. However, the specified lifting capacity after load reduction should not exceed 80% of the original rated lifting capacity. These special requirements are to ensure the safe and stable operation of the crane in the steel plant.
